The Basics

Q: What is Fantasy Basketball?
A: Fantasy Basketball gives you the opportunity to run your own team of professional basketball players. You draft your team of the best players from across the NBA and receive points based on those players' performance in NBA games each week of the basketball season. You set weekly lineups, propose, accept and reject trades, sign free agents, and compete against other teams in your league. If you have a group of friends you can form your own league using Basketball Commissioner. You can also join one of our existing Fantasy Basketball 2007 basketball leagues. Learn More about Fantasy Basketball.

Q: What is the difference between your Fantasy Basketball 2007 game and the Basketball Commissioner product?
A: If you want to create a fantasy basketball league for a group of your friends, Basketball Commissioner lets you set up and run the league. Acting as the league commissioner you can customize the scoring system, the rules and the schedule based on your wants and needs. In Fantasy Basketball 2007, you can own a team in an already existing league and compete against other users. For those leagues, we act as commissioner and set all the rules for you. You simply manage your team and try to beat the rest of the league.

Q: How much does it cost to play?
A: There are four versions of CBSSports.com Fantasy Basketball 2007. Free version equals FREE. The Gold version costs $29.95 per team, with a $150 league champion prize! The Platinum version costs $99.95 per team, with a $600 league champion prize! The Diamond version costs $249.95 per team, with a $1600 league champion prize!

Q: How do I join a league?
A: Joining a league is easy. Either join a public league or start a private league.

Q: Can I play in the same league with my friends?
A:  Yes. You can create a "private" league, set a league password and tell your friends to join. If you already have an existing league, and want to make all the rules and act as commissioner, you should check out CBSSports.com's Basketball Commissioner.

Q: How will you keep score in my league?
A: Each league consists of 12 teams. You will manage one of the teams. You can play in a weekly Head-to-Head scoring system, where you're matched up with one team each week and the standings are determined by win/loss record; or a Rotisserie scoring system, where teams are ranked in a number of statistical categories and standings are based on a team's combined ranking in all categories. For details, please see the game's Official Rules.

Q: What are E-Reports?
A:  You can schedule e-mail delivery of all the reports in your Fantasy league. When the reports arrive in your inbox, we refer to them as E-Reports. This includes statistics and standings reports, as well as news updates about your players and more. You can even have customized reports e-mailed. For instance, let's say you need a Center. Sort the free agent report to display the top scoring Centers available at the top, then have the report e-mailed every week.

Q: Will I have access to the latest NBA news and injury reports?
A:  Absolutely. We post player news as it happens along with strategic analysis to help team owners make the right lineup decisions. Also a list of all current NBA injuries and playing status is right on your league's site. Plus we have a full editorial schedule, with Fantasy articles and analysis from our experts throughout every week.
